I uploaded my first workout video because it was a going away gift for my 40 POP Pilates students who wanted to still work out with me after I had to move away. I wasn’t trying to start a brand, get rich, or be famous. In fact, back in those days, you couldn’t even make money on YouTube. Brand deals and Adsense were not even a thing. It was simply a place to connect. Thank you VidCon for inducting me into the Hall of Fame What an HONOR, but especially alongside legends Michelle Phan, Philip DeFranco and Markiplier! Can’t believe I attended my first vidcon back in 2012 as a regular attendee waiting in line to take a pic with Harley of Epic Meal Time (who doesn’t love watching people construct absurdly large towers of high calorie foods then consuming it like a beast who hasn’t eaten for weeks?), then came back as a full-on YouTuber speaking on panels in front of thousands, then yesterday, inducted into the Hall of Fame? I have to really force myself to stop and look back in order to appreciate my journey, because too often I’m moving too fast, only looking forward, and thinking about everything going wrong instead of what has gone right. TEA TIME: The Update You’ve Been Waiting For Hey guys! A few months ago, I told you how I found out that Nordstrom Rack was selling a straight up dupe of my patented Pirouette Skort. Get ready, it’s tea time. First, let’s recap what happened.   Basically I found out about the dupe, which is by a brand called Gottex. I sent a cease and desist because wellllll my design is PATENTED and they responded with a threat to sue ME. So I posted a video about it. I gave them a chance to fix it. I gave them an easy out. I told Nordstrom, “Hey, let’s turn this into an ‘enemies to lovers’ arc.” All they had to do was reach out and get the real thing in their stores. It would’ve been a win for everyone… a PR win for them, a victory for me, and a win for YOU because you’d get to shop one of our favorite things in-store! But instead, nothing happened. Months went by with no resolution and no one getting back to me. I was tossed around like a hot potato between lawyers, retailers, and manufacturers. Like if they gave me the run around I would just… go away? The disrespect. The GASLIGHTING.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) SHOP THE REAL PIROUETTE SKORT Time to speak up. We all know I wasn’t going away without a fight. After I shared the truth about the Nordstrom dupe with you all, things took a turn. News outlets picked up the story and you started showing me receipts! Turns out Nordstrom Rack isn’t the only one selling this skort, but also TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Beals. Why didn’t I know about these other stores earlier? Something didn’t add up. Shady much? And how convenient that THIS is when the lawyers finally decided that they had time to respond. Only instead of apologizing or trying to work with me, things got worse. The lawyer literally said, “We request that your client remove all defamatory remarks.” Excuse me? Defamation? I’m just stating the facts. They took my design, and I’m calling them out. A Pirouette dupe at TJMaxx! How can they copy it down the the color that went viral after the Taylor Swift ICDIWABH music video and just pretend like it’s their own original design? No.   This should speak for itself. The NDA. After we finally had people talking to us, I proposed a settlement to simply end the madness. Just pay me a fair royalty, stop selling the dupe, and we’re done here. But no. THEY CAME BACK WITH AN NDA. And not just any NDA… this one said I could NOT talk about the situation on ANY platform. Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube… they were very specific. And if I did post about it… they would fine me $250,000. Umm excuse me?! Hard no. I’m not signing their NDA. I won’t be silenced and you cannot buy me.  In fact, I’m going to keep talking about this because truth is on my side, and I’ll NEVER be bullied into silence. Nice try though. A year of love stories from the POPFLEX team Last weekend, I visited Michigan for the first time to see Kristen, our Senior Manager of Creator Relations, tie the knot! She was a literal fairy. And it got me thinking… Sam and I had the honor of attending FOUR weddings so far this year for people on the POPFLEX team (aka the Blogifam). I know from past experience how most of the time, people prefer to keep work life and personal life separate. In my early corporate life, inviting a manager to a wedding NEVER would have been a thing. The wait for Swim is finally over!!

The wait for Swim is finally over!! So, where did we leave off on this year’s POPFLEX swim drama? Right right, the part where my photo samples went MISSING in Memphis and I had to cancel our photoshoot. Models were been booked, flights purchased, photographers hired. So many meticulously planned details and moving parts just… poof! Cancelled because of one package. But the worst part was that the location we reserved would not give us a credit for the space and I had to pay thousands in fees. That’s when I filmed a video to fill you in on everything holding back this year’s swim launch. For weeks after that, the package was just stuck. I thought it was gone forever until one day… it showed up! Except… There was another problem Like HOWWWW was this happening after we already dealt with incorrect elastic on another swim bottom aka Sausagegate? WHY?! This was the point when Sam and I wondered if we should just give up on swim this year. I was EXHAUSTED. But that would mean 1.5 years of development would go to waste. The design team had already poured everything into this collection. I couldn’t just let that go. I asked you for time And your support was everything. Your willingness to wait was the final push I needed to work out the details and get it right. Over the past month, I nearly lost my mind catching issues and redoing pieces until the fit was perfect. Which brings us to today, and I finally have some good news. POPFLEX Swim is HERE! This year we have 15 silhouettes to choose from and I truly believe there is something for everyone. SHOP SWIM The swim “skanty” is alive! We brought back some faves like the Crisscross Hourglass Cheeky Bottoms and the Swim Romper, but I’m most excited for the unique styles this year. We added the most stunning drapey Tankini, a Swim Dress, AND  swim skort that I’m calling a Skanty because it has built-in bottoms. I’m wearing it with the Beach Day Bandeau which has an adjustable corset back (obsessed) and removable halter (OBSESSED)! SHOP SWIM Every single piece is giving mermaid goddess. Choosing my passion over my parents’ life plan Growing up a child of immigrant parents who escaped a war-torn country, my mom and dad instilled in my sister and I perseverance and resilience. They taught me to work hard, study hard and do everything with excellence…which made me a great student and obedient daughter…until the thing I wanted to do excellently, was not in their life plan for me. For so many years I felt so lost, so broken and so angry. It was a decision between my passion or my parents – and I chose my passion. It broke our relationship and to this day, remains the thing I still cry about every time I think about it, talk about it, or write about it. Like literally right now. Ugh. As I get older, as my parents get older, and as the past becomes more of a scar than a fresh wound, I find myself trying to heal by trying to understand them. They wanted my sister and I to be safe. To be financially secure. To not suffer. To have stability. Things that were robbed from from them. Telling my parents I was going to pursue fashion design was none of those things. But the more they told me NO the more it lit my fire. I’m extremely grateful to my parents because had they not done what they did, I would not have fought as hard as I did to get where I am today.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) I want to thank you for supporting me all of these years, whether it was by doing a Blogilates video on YouTube or by purchasing something from POPFLEX (or recently Blogilates!). Corporations, at the end of the day, make decisions heavily influenced, if not totally influenced, by numbers. HBD to me and my first design patent! In honor of celebrating my birthday AND the one-year anniversary of my very first design patent, I wanna give a very special shoutout to SHEIN. Yeah, you read that right. We give credit where credit is due, right? If it weren’t for them stealing my Pirouette Skort design (ahem, twice), I wouldn’t have applied for my very first design patent. I wouldn’t have been granted that patent one year later, ON MY BIRTHDAY. Best gift of my life.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) Two years and 499 dupes later Receiving that patent on my birthday was like a really weird sign that I was on the right path. Since then, we’ve now taken down 393 dupes of the Pirouette Skort alone. INSANE. Now, design patents are NOT easy to get. They’re incredibly expensive and the application process is extremely time consuming and confusing. It’s very difficult, which is why you don’t hear about many designers going this route.  That said, having a design patent is the most powerful tool I have in my pocket for protecting my rights as an independent designer. And I’ve simply had enough of dupers. Enough. I’m so happy to share that in 2024, I was also awarded a patent on my Corset Pirouette Dress, the Superbra®, the Sklegging, and the Hiking Superskort. Since my last bday, we’ve now killed 499 dupes. And we’re just getting started.   In honor of celebrating my birthday AND the one-year anniversary of my very first design patent, I wanna give a very special shoutout to SHEIN. Ms. Lyttle was my 2nd grade teacher at Welby Way Magnet School and I’ll never forget the kindness she extended towards me and my family. She was an incredible teacher but also cared for her students like they were her own kids. I remember one day, my parents couldn’t pick me up from school so she offered to drive me home that evening. She didn’t have to but she did, and it’s things like that make me think of her and how she’s doing every once in a while. I don’t know why I hesitate when I think about reaching out to my teachers. I think about this a lot actually. I guess I’m scared they won’t remember me and it’ll be “weird” but honestly who cares because there’s nothing weird about telling someone how much of a positive impact they’ve left on your life, FOR life. So, no more hesitating. I’m writing my favorite teachers and professors right now, and thanking them for helping to shape me into the woman I am today. I urge you to do the same and make them smile. Please go write your teachers. It’s always surreal to see my products on shelves, even four years after my very first equipment launch. But today after laying eyes on my apparel designs in the store, I’m overwhelmed with emotions. Managing two brands at once while navigating a project of this size with a faster turnaround than I’ve ever experienced was HARD. Like, maybe my hardest year. But seeing it now… seeing my childhood dream right in front of me, along with the surge of love and support from Blogilates community… I’m so grateful. It was totally worth it. Anyway, ready to see Blogilates for Target?! I spy a hoodie that hoodies AND IT HAS NEVER HOODIED AT $35 SO YOU BETTER SNATCH IT. Seriously though, you know I hold my hoodie standards very high. The Marshmallow Hoodie has: An oversized fit Super soft fabric A double-lined hood Blousy sleeves And before you ask me for a half-zip version… I gotchu. The Marshmallow Half Zip is for you. If you need something ultra cozy, the Campfire Fleece is ready to snuggle. SHOP MARSHMALLOW HOODIE Does this skort look familiar? I have a feeling the Ballerina Skort is gonna go quickkk. The layered skirt is ultra-twirlable, the crisscross waistband gives you an hourglass shape with no pinching, and YES the built-in shorts have pockets. Will you pair your Ballerina Skort with the Reversible Bow Back Short Sleeve, which can tie in the front OR back (omg I love both ways), the ultra feminine Love Story Long Sleeve (which also bow ties in the back!), or maybe with the Crisscross Sports Bra? This bra is giving Bridgerton with it’s low square neckline and crisscross back. But guess what you won’t find? REMOVABLE PADS. There are pockets to add your own if you want and a nip cushion layer for a little extra coverage. Speaking of Bridgerton and princess vibes, the Corset Tank and Corset Cropped Bralette are the cutest, most romantic (but still functional) tops you will ever wear to the gym. I cannot get enough of the princess seams! SHOP TOPS Ok so the Crisscross Slit Skort has a high-rise A-line fit, which looks sooo flattering with the hourglass accentuating waist band. The built-in shorts have pockets because duhhh and the little slit in the front shows a little leg, but not too much. The perfect cutesy amount. A moment for this skort with the matching Strappy Tank. Are you loving how many ways you can build an outfit? AN AFFORDABLE OUTFIT? Its me! In the Ballerina Dress Omg that’s me! OMG this dress! I need to see it in ballet or ice skating action. If you get it will you pretty please send me pics or tag me @blogilates?! If you want an active dress with more coverage, you must check out the Romance Run Dress! It has thicker, adjustable straps and the skirt is slightly more structured, but still twirlable! The Game Set Match Dress is really fun too – It has a halter neck and drawstring waistline! SHOP DRESSES Jumpsuit = Easiest outfit ever 99 percent of the time, I’m running late because I can’t decide on my out. Jumpsuits are totally SAVING ME because it’s just one piece and I’m done! The Sweetheart Jumpsuit is such a vibe. How adorable is that neckline?! And omg the fabric… it’s sooo soft! When I was in-store I just kept going back and touching it. I mean, we’ve all dreamed of an outfit that feels like pajamas but looks totally put together? If you’re looking for a jumpsuit to workout in, go for the Peekaboo Flare Jumpsuit! It’s the perfect example of fashion meets function. I’m obsessed with the wide neckline and peekaboo cutout in the front. And because I am obsessed with one-piece outfits, I had to make a romper too! The Barre Romper is like a romper version of the Ballerina Dress! So cute and feminine… just please don’t ask me how to pee. Last but not least, some staples Why are the staples sometimes the hardest to find? For example, there are sports bras everywhere, but it’s so hard to find one that fits just right without looking blah – I know this is especially true if you have bigger boobs. SO, enter the Cardio Queen Bra. This bra is medium-impact and super adjustable to get the right fit. And don’t you love that V neckline and keyhole in the back? Same with running shorts! I just couldn’t find a pair that I love. Everything gave me diaper butt or looked boring and eventually… I just designed my own. The Ruffle Short has as stretchy, non-pinchy waistband and built in shorts that won’t give you uncomfy cameltoe. No diaper butt in sight – Only a cute ruffle! OF COURSE there are leggings! Both the Crisscross Legging and Crisscross Flared Legging have an anti-cameltoe front panel, squat-proof fabric, a heart-shaped booty seam, and pockets (the necessities!), plus fun new details! The legging has a cute lil ruched ankle detail and the flares have an ankle slit. Oh and the flare sits below the knee to elongate the leg! Next, the Travel Trouser! These wide leg pants are comfy cozy, but the pin tuck seams give a slightly more elevated look. These with the Marshmallow Hoodie = The perfect travel fit.
