Appreciating the Journey That Led to Living Out My Childhood Dream

Appreciating the Journey That Led to Living Out My Childhood Dream I uploaded my first YouTube video in 2009 not knowing that decision was going to change the rest of my life.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates)   I made up the screen name “Blogilates” because I simply meshed together 2 things I liked: blogging and Pilates. I uploaded my first workout video because it was a going away gift for my 40 POP Pilates students who wanted to still work out with me after I had to move away. I wasn’t trying to start a brand, get rich, or be famous. In fact, back in those days, you couldn’t even make money on YouTube. Brand deals and Adsense were not even a thing. It was simply a place to connect. Thank you VidCon for inducting me into the Hall of Fame What an HONOR, but especially alongside legends Michelle Phan, Philip DeFranco and Markiplier! Can’t believe I attended my first vidcon back in 2012 as a regular attendee waiting in line to take a pic with Harley of Epic Meal Time (who doesn’t love watching people construct absurdly large towers of high calorie foods then consuming it like a beast who hasn’t eaten for weeks?), then came back as a full-on YouTuber speaking on panels in front of thousands, then yesterday, inducted into the Hall of Fame? I have to really force myself to stop and look back in order to appreciate my journey, because too often I’m moving too fast, only looking forward, and thinking about everything going wrong instead of what has gone right. Pro pics by Ashly and iPhone pics by my number one supporter ever since forever, Sam    I uploaded my first YouTube video in 2009 not knowing that decision was going to change the rest of my life.   View this post on Instagram   A post… Cassey{authorlink}https://www.blogilates.com/blog/vidcon-2026/Blogilates The official blog of Cassey Ho https://i0.wp.com/www.blogilates.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fav-1.png?fit=32%2C32&ssl=1

Mini-moon Pt. 1: Japan

Mini-moon Pt. 1: Japan Japan. Probably the number one shocker was learning that public trash cans are NOT a thing. And yet, the city is SO clean!   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) It was incredible to watch one of the densest cities in the world operate with such high efficiency and cleanliness. As I was admiring the organized chaos of Tokyo, I kept thinking that such a society is possible only if every individual lives by and respects the same rules. It’s inevitable for me to compare my own experience living in the U.S. vs being a visitor in Japan, but REAL TALK whyyyyy is it so hard for people to use public trash cans when they’re literally on every corner!? Between grinding our own matcha in Uji, finally trying all the viral foods I’ve been seeing on IG for YEARS in Tokyo and Osaka, being head-butted by a deer in Nara (no actually), and making a game out of trying to find trash cans, I really enjoyed wandering aimlessly through the streets of Japan with Sam. Exploring in the rain made it all the more romantic, especially among the cobblestone streets of Kyoto, even though I was complaining about being cold every 5 seconds. Arigato gozaimasu Japan! Japan. Flew to Japan to grind matcha

Flew to Japan to grind matcha Been loving matcha since skinny jeans were still in, and it wasn’t until now that I got to grind my own matcha in the matcha capital of the world: Uji, Japan.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) As a part of my morning ritual, I whisk matcha and pour it into a glass cup with oat milk and agave and sip on it while stretching (and checking Slack messages) before my workout. I honestly don’t feel complete without my matcha latte to start the day! This was the matcha grinding experience at the Chazuna Museum in Uji. We learned so much! Like did you know that matcha comes from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant?  The instructor was so lovely and even asked if Sam and I were on our honeymoon because we were giving honeymoon energy I guess. RIP my feet after 3 Italian cities in 7 days

RIP my feet after 3 Italian cities in 7 days Doing 3 cities in 7 days was far too ambitious for our first Italian whirlwind of a trip but hey we did it and my feet are SORE! Biggest accomplishments: Finally walking the ancient streets of Pompeii and seeing the famous cast of the man who tried to get up in his last moments (so tragic). Riding a gondola in the actual Venice canals (not the one in LA or the one in Vegas haha). 30,000 steps a day (honestly v proud). Seeing our friends tie the knot on the Amalfi coast (so romantic). Biggest Travel Learnings: Flats can still be extremely painful (women need better options for cute, comfy, dressy shoes). Don’t travel without cash (oops). Don’t travel without a debit card esp when you forgot the cash (let’s just say stressing out about not being able to pay for things in euros was 100% the backbone of this trip). Always pack your personal bag with emergency undies, contacts, toothbrushes, skincare etc bc when we missed our connecting flight back to the U.S. due to a delay, we were stranded for the night in a foreign city with NOTHING. Amalfi, Venice and Rome were so impressive – rich with history and bursting with stunning architecture, but it was A LOT to take in in such a short amount of time. I need a vacation after this vacation Doing 3 cities in 7 days was far too ambitious for our first Italian whirlwind of a trip but hey we did it and my feet are SORE! A much needed step away from the grind…

A much needed step away from the grind… Hey guys! Even though Sam and I work together every day, I often feel like we don’t get to see each other. I mean, physically I SEE him but if I’m being real, emotionally I’m not really there. I am hyper-focused, super intense, and honestly just too serious. But that’s quintessential business mode Cassey. So…every summer I make it a point to plan what I like to call our Minimoon: a chance for us to step away from the grind (well, as best as we can…I mean as business owners can you ever REALLY!?!?) and be fully present with one another. I call it a Minimoon because I’m forever chasing the pure happiness that was our Honeymoon! This year’s trip took us back to one of my favorite places on earth: French Polynesia.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates)   We spent our days in the water and our nights gazing up at the sparkling sky. We retired when the sun retired and rose as she rose. We ate fries at every meal because we could so we did. We walked everywhere and rushed nowhere. We chose to disconnect in order to reconnect. The past couple weeks have given me more than I wished for. (No but like, literally. I wished to swim with 1 mantaray and we ended up swimming with 9!!!) It’s been magical Now…we just need to figure out how to sprinkle this Minimoon mentality into our weekly lives instead of waiting for it once a year! Adding a sense of slowness where we can would be nice…except…kinda hard when the biz is in an exciting (and exhausting) growth phase. Oh well, we’ll figure it out! We always do, right Sam!?! Hey guys! Even though Sam and I work together every day, I often feel like we don’t get to see each other. A snapshot of life lately…

A snapshot of life lately… Hey guys! Life. It’s been…absolute insanity. Like the really good kind of insanity but the really intense kind of insanity. The kind that you dream of, but the kind that will break you if keep going like this. Yesterday I was honored as one of Youtube’s OG Asian American creators, alongside some iconic legends. I was supposed to prepare a speech…but in a room full of people who I had once admired from afar who then came to be my real-life friends, I decided to speak from the heart instead. Swipe a couple to see a lil clip of my speech!   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) My life and my career today would not be what it is without that first 10 minute Pilates video I posted on YouTube in 2009. Isn’t it wild how the universe works? Pilates, YouTube and you guys brought me back to my childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer…something I was told I’d NEVER succeed at…and yet here I am, living the most intense version of my dream. So intense that it’s about to break me. After the gala, Sam and I had to tend to some real world duties. In my literal evening gown and heels, we went to go check on a paint job (we’re in the middle of moving into a new office for POPFLEX) to make sure the contractors did their work. It was then that I asked Sam to shoot me amongst the construction because it was a perfect representation of us TRYING to harmonize the extremes in our lives: The contrast of dream and reality… The juxtaposition of elegance and chaos… The push and pull between a thriving business and a balanced life that does not exist… This is us right now. Truly thrilled. Yet truly exhausted. I’m grateful for all of it, and for what’s to come. But I know in my bones that if I don’t slow down I will break down. Hey guys! Life. It’s been…absolute insanity. Like the really good kind of insanity but the really intense kind of insanity. The kind that you dream of, but the kind that… Cassey{authorlink}https://www.blogilates.com/blog/a-snapshot-of-life-lately/Blogilates The official blog of Cassey Ho https://www.blogilates.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fav-1.png
