Everyone’s sharing their wins, so here are my recent flops

Everyone’s sharing their wins, so here are my recent flops Hey guys! Everyone’s sharing their wins sooo… let’s talk flops. I’d like to believe that these things happen in order to redirect me. This made me think deeply about what defines the Popflex brand and who our customer really is. Unfortunately I’ve always been and still am very critical of myself. A simple question was asked that triggered a sadness deep within me and I couldn’t hold back my tears. I hate that I cried but I think I hate more that I felt ashamed of it afterwards. I don’t like being told what I can or can’t do. But the truth is, the limit has to exist in order for this business to exist. Just reaching a “sweet spot” where we’re not small enough that no one cares and not big enough that everyone’s scared. Ugh. I can’t even begin to explain how low I felt after this. All I wanted was to genuinely connect with people who understood what I was going through. Growing a business can feel really lonely and depleting already but as a super empath, sometimes the feeling is unbearable. I wanted community. Friends even. When I got the rejection email, it felt like someone was breaking up with me without giving a reason why. Was I not good enough? Did I do something wrong? Please someone tell me something. But no, they wouldn’t tell me anything. It made me feel like I wasn’t worthy of being in their presence, like it was high school all over again and they saw me as some wannabe trying to join their popular group. I hate that a part of me is still very damaged over this. But I’ll get over it. It’s just gonna take time. Let’s be real. Wasting food is the biggest flop of all.   Hey guys! Everyone’s sharing their wins sooo… let’s talk flops. I’d like to believe that these things happen in order to redirect me. Guess what’s back?!

Guess what’s back?! Did we finally hit the crop top limit? After years of tops getting shorter while pants get higher, there is simply nowhere higher for our tops to go. SO I’m calling it now: Tank tops are back.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) The history of the tank Did you know the tank top originally started as a swimming tank for women in the early 1900s? It didn’t become a shirt you actually wear outside, not just as an undershirt, until the 1950s! Then, the 90s brought a massive wave of minimalism and a huuuge tank top upgrade. Annnd who here remembers tank over tank over tank of the 2000s. Yeah, tank tops just kept getting longer and we wore them with super low-rise jeans, until the 2010s when we started doing the total opposite. We went from peplums to crops. All of this to say… the fashion pendulum is constantly swinging, and in 2026 the tank top is finally back back! The Popflex Twisty Top GO WITH THE FLOW TWISTY TOP I’ve been fighting for my life for sooo long to design a tank top that looks cool. I loved the asymmetrical, Greek Goddess vibe, so I decided to take that and… Popflexify it. I’m wearing the Popflex Twisty Top and I’m not saying this top is revolutionary but omg it makes my life sooo much easier! It has a built-in bra, and it would have been a whooole thing without one. And obvi I love the off the shoulder moment. I love the look of this with jeans orrr with matching Go With the Flow Pants if you love a set like I do! Ok so what do you think? Are you here for the return of tank tops? Did we finally hit the crop top limit? After years of tops getting shorter while pants get higher, there is simply nowhere higher for our tops to go. SO I’m… Cassey{authorlink}https://www.blogilates.com/blog/tank-tops-are-back/Blogilates The official blog of Cassey Ho https://i0.wp.com/www.blogilates.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fav-1.png?fit=32%2C32&ssl=1

Sooo are we gauchoing?

Sooo are we gauchoing? This is a serious and very controversial topic, but we gotta talk about it. It began with hauntings from my past, all over the internet. I tried to ignore and hoped it would never get to this point. But it’s getting out of control, so I must ask… have you seen WIDE-LEGGED CAPRIS starting to trend?! Um. Gauchos. Those are gauchos.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) I used to wear gauchos in high school or college (not sure because I blocked that out) but omg the way they would trunkate my leg. No no nooo it was so bad but I had no idea until we were out of the trend and I looked back at pics. Literally a stump. And now the 2000s are here and they brought gauchos back sooo I tested a new prototype JUST IN CASE. Not saying I’m fully on board, just wanna be prepared. So please tell me. Are we doing this?! Are we gauchoing? If yes, do you like the right side or the left side better?  This is a serious and very controversial topic, but we gotta talk about it. We need to talk about the low-rise trend

We need to talk about the low-rise trend Did you know fashion trends recycle every 20ish years? And many times, new or returning trends signal some kind of societal shift. Remember my wide-leg sweatpant theory?! Today, I have another fashion history/trend deep dive for you… one that more people need to be talking about.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) Low-rise is back And we love! So cute. But this trend’s return from the 00s may not be as innocent as it seems. Do you remember what else was in style the last time low-rise jeans were in? Let me give you a hint. Do you see it? I had a suspicion that the return of low-rise is a signal that beauty standards have shifted yet again. I felt like the correlation was correlating… SO I went onto Google Trends and typed in two of the hottest things that people are talking about right now, juuust to see if there was a correlation. And guess what I found?   Just as the low-rise trend has gained popularity, so has interest in GLP-1s. If you’re thinking noo no that’s just a coincidence… I found more. As interest in Pilates has trended up over the last 5 years, searches for how to get a bigger butt have decreased. The searches are proving that slimmer physiques are trending… again. Do fashion AND beauty standards cycle? We know fashion recycles itself, but I’m surprised to see us going back to the harmful body trends of the 2000s. It’s only been 10 years since Kim K. literally broke the internet with her curvy physique and made that the IT body type. Today, with the return of the VS Fashion Show, it’s clear that thin is in. My question All of this makes me wonder: If fashion is a reflection of society, then what is it saying about us? What do you think? Did you know fashion trends recycle every 20ish years? And many times, new or returning trends signal some kind of societal shift. Remember my wide-leg sweatpant theory?! Today, I have… Cassey{authorlink}https://www.blogilates.com/blog/low-rise-trend-beauty-standards/Blogilates The official blog of Cassey Ho https://i0.wp.com/www.blogilates.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fav-1.png?fit=32%2C32&ssl=1

What is a Cycle Syncing Diet, and Should You Try It?

What is a Cycle Syncing Diet, and Should You Try It? If you’re someone who deals with a menstrual cycle, it’s safe to say you’re no stranger to the ups and downs of each month. Thanks to hormonal changes with each phase, it can be quite a bumpy ride. Can cycle syncing food smooth the journey and help you feel better? Let’s find out! What is Cycle Syncing? Cycle syncing is adjusting your nutrition and exercise to the phases of your cycle. These adjustments cater to the changes in your hormones to help balance things out. In this article, we’ll focus on the best foods to eat during each phase. The Benefits Hormones can be chaotic (is there anything we haven’t blamed them for?). But did you know that certain foods may help balance them out and improve symptoms of hormonal changes during your cycle? Other foods replenish vitamins and minerals or remedy symptoms. Some reported benefits of cycle syncing food include: Decreased cramping, bloating, and other period symptoms Improved mood Decreased stress and anxiety Decreased fatigue   Cycle Syncing Diet But not like, a diet diet. Here are some nutrients to target during each phase of your cycle with some easy ways to get them on your plate. Menstrual Phase (Days 0-7) Ugh, your period. Maybe you’re bloated and crampy, and all you’re craving is some comfort food and a nap. This is when estrogen is the lowest. Here’s what to eat. Iron When you lose blood, you lose iron. Eat iron-rich foods like lean meat, beans, leafy green vegetables, and lentils, PLUS Vitamin C-rich foods like citrus, strawberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and broccoli to help maximize iron absorption. Omega-3s Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts fight inflammation and might help with cramping. Foods to support energy levels The best way to keep your energy levels up? Don’t skip meals! And try to include a serving of protein with each meal and snack. Magnesium If you suffer from menstrual migraines (same, ugh), some studies suggest that supplementing with magnesium could prevent an attack. Follicular Phase (Days 8-13) Your energy is back and you’re feeling great! Support your energy levels with lean protein, whole grains, legumes, starchy vegetables, and fruit. Fermented foods Fermented foods improve your gut microbiota, which is vital for estrogen metabolism. We’re here to support hormone balance, so we want to support that metabolism in any way we can! Plus, we love gut health. Healthy fats Finally, healthy fats like avocado, salmon, and olive oil, plus fat-soluble vitamin E foods like sweet potato, leafy greens, and nuts support healthy ovaries and reproductive health – especially important if you’re trying to conceive! Ovulatory Phase (Days 14-15) The ovulatory phase is…when you ovulate! During this short phase, keep eating a healthy, balanced diet and the foods that support estrogen balance. Cruciferous vegetables Think broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. A chemical in cruciferous veggies called 3,3-Diindolylmethane may support the liver to help your body get rid of excess estrogen. Zinc, folate, and antioxidants These are especially important if you’re trying to conceive, but also play a role in reproductive health even if you aren’t! Luteal Phase (Days 16-28) Here we are, approaching menstruation again. A lot of us start to feel PMS symptoms like mood swings, headaches, and bloating. You might feel extra hungry too. Drink your water! Hydration is important in every phase, but especially when you’re headache and bloat-prone. Starchy vegetables Carbs will help with the hunger part, especially if you’re incorporating the right ones. Starchy veggies like sweet potatoes will fuel your body with carbs, but also pack in some nutrients, like our bestie fiber! Magnesium Magnesium can help with anxiety, headaches, and even water retention. Oh, and research shows that many Americans aren’t getting enough! One study actually states that around 48% aren’t meeting the recommended intake. A supplement may help, but you can also include magnesium-rich foods like dark chocolate (yes!), avocado, nuts, and legumes. The Cons of Cycle Syncing Cycle syncing can be great BUT (there’s always a but, right?), as with all wellness trends, there are some cons to cycle syncing. First, it’s not supported by a ton of science yet. We really just need more research to confidently say this works, who it works for, and really nail down the benefits. Second, this may not work for people with irregular periods or people who are on birth control. If you have an irregular period, it’s going to be a lot harder to track which phase you’re in. Birth control uses synthetic hormones to prevent ovulation, which means cycle syncing likely will not be as effective. Don’t overthink it If planning your diet around your cycle feels like too much, that’s FINE! The best thing is to eat a balanced, varied diet made up of foods that make YOU feel good. Adding in some of these nutrients may help, but there’s no way to say one thing will work for everyone. Our bodies, lifestyles, menstrual cycles, and hormone levels are all different. If you feel like your symptoms are impacting your life or require special attention, definitely chat with your healthcare provider to construct the best plan for you. Have you tried cycle syncing food? Did you notice a difference? Tell us in the comments!     If you’re someone who deals with a menstrual cycle, it’s safe to say you’re no stranger to the ups and downs of each month. Thanks to hormonal changes with each… Breanna Woods MS, RD{authorlink}https://www.blogilates.com/blog/cycle-syncing-food/Blogilates The official blog of Cassey Ho https://www.blogilates.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fav-1.png

A take on Meg Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer,” Tomato Girl Summer combines the concept of reclaiming the season with a new fashion niche.  While TikTok is known for cultivating distinctive, hyperspecific fashion trends, this may be the app’s most unique trend.  Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, it gives your summer outfits a breezy, homegrown edge. This newly-named style brings European glamor to the everyday woman. (Even if you aren’t vacationing on the Amalfi Coast this summer, you can still dress like it!). We love a good wardrobe refresh, and this style goes above and beyond. It’s a way to use unique patterns, color combos, and silhouettes to achieve that Italian leisure look. And we aren’t the only fans of this look; #TomatoGirlAesthetic on TikTok has over 117 million views. After taking social media by storm, the Tomato Girl aesthetic has been recognized by major fashion magazines and is even influencing runway looks. If you personally aren’t a fan of tomatoes, no worries! The trend has spawned conversations for other plant-inspired looks like the Lemon Girl and the Watermelon Girl. (As we move further into summer, we have to wonder how this trend will evolve when autumn rolls around… dare we say, Acorn Girl Fall? ).    @vicmontanari I was leaving a #tomatogirl summer and didn’t even know #tomatogirl #tomatogirls ♬ Ma quale idea – Pino D’Angiò   It’s Not Just About Tomatoes We know it’s in the name, but the trend is about so much more. The Tomato Girl style is about dressing in a bright, colorful palette that reflects the season’s beautiful blooms. From fresh produce to blossoming flowers and sparkling sunshine, this trend borrows everything we love about summer. The Tomato Girl look is playful, stylish, and carefree. It allows you to embody “golden hour” all day long.  If you picture someone walking down the cobblestone streets of a European village in the summertime, think of what they’d be wearing. That’s the Tomato Girl aesthetic! Okay, okay… If you’re still struggling to picture it, we don’t blame you. Here are some key items to achieve the look if you’re invested in becoming a Tomato Girl. Warm tones like red, orange, yellow, and gold! (it is centered on tomatoes, after all) Breezy linen sundresses and pants Clothes with fun summer patterns like gingham or even fruits and veggies Bright summer button downs Silky hair scarves Elegant sandals Vibrant colors (if you’d see it in your neighbor’s garden, it’s perfect!) Crochet and macrame accessories Natural beach waves and your favorite claw clip A bronzy, golden makeup routine for a glowy look   If you want more inspiration to build your own Tomato Girl-inspired look, check out our Tomato Girl Summer Pinterest board!  This Trend Has Layers Like so many fashion trends, the Tomato Girl aesthetic goes beyond what we’re wearing. It promotes a slower pace of life that stops us from rushing from one thing to the next. It doesn’t just conjure dreamy scenes of sipping an ice-cold drink and lounging with a good book or perusing your local farmer’s market for fresh finds. It encourages you to live out this European fantasy, no matter where you are.  Being a Tomato Girl means seeking out adventure and taking it slow in order to appreciate all of the amazing things that can happen when you become present in the moment.  JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser.
