Dissecting feelings after my NYC trip

Dissecting feelings after my NYC trip Hey guys! Trip recap/brain dump for you… From attending the Asian American Foundation Awards with the CEO of YouTube and my fellow AAPI creators to watching both the Michael movie and MJ the Musical on Broadway, this month has me thinking a lot about my upbringing. I’ve been finding myself on the verge of tears more often than I’d like. A little backstory: you may or may not know, but I’m a huge MJ fan – oddly, a late stage one. I “discovered” him in high school during the 2003 Martin Bashir special that was meant to totally destroy Michael, but for some reason I saw nothing but a really talented performer. And that’s when my obsession with all things MJ began. Read all the books, bought all the CDs, and studied his performances bc I was a girl on a mission to learn the moonwalk! I ended up doing a dance to ‘Beat It’ for the talent portion of the Miss Teen Chinatown pageant and I really do think THAT is what tipped the scales in my favor! Anyway, watching Michael was beautifully nostalgic but when Joe Jackson came on the screen, the things he said reminded me so much of my dad that I was holding back tears the entire movie. Growing up my dad yelled at me when I hit a “lousy” shot during tennis practice, he yelled at me when I couldn’t solve a math problem, and he yelled at me so much that becoming a perfectionist was the only way I knew how to be. Later on in life when I finally rebelled and didn’t follow his plan for me to be a doctor, our relationship broke into pieces. The most hurtful part is that my “success” today is viewed in a similar way to how Joe Jackson viewed Michael’s success: a result of his doing. I want to be clear that I love both my mom and dad and I am grateful for the way I was raised because it made me FIGHT to become exactly who I am today. I don’t wish to change my upbringing but I do wish to have a better relationship with my dad before it’s too late.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) On a slightly diff note: NYC was great! Food was great! But the trip left me with a lot of feelings to dissect. From attending multiple glamorous events to reflecting on MJ’s tragic end, I’m thinking a lot about human nature and how we treat people based on who we think they are vs who they really are.   Hey guys! Too Pretty to be Activewear?

Too Pretty to be Activewear? Too pretty for the activewear section? The Blogilates Princess Bow Back Dress is stretchy like activewear… has thick straps to support you like activewear… is anti-cameltoe like activewear… and has pockets deep enough to hold a water bottle like activewear.     View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) SHOP AT TARGET TBH it’s like 1800s + modern bridal in an active dress – too pretty to make sense but it totally does. For real, I love this dress with my brown riding boots for a going out or concert look. The Blogilates Princess Bow Back Dress is currently at Target! I’m 5’5” and normally wear a small but chose XS bc I wanted it shorter and snatchier!   Too pretty for the activewear section? 🤔 The Blogilates Princess Bow Back Dress is stretchy like activewear… has thick straps to support you like activewear… is anti-cameltoe like activewear… and… Cassey{authorlink}https://www.blogilates.com/blog/blogilates-bow-back-princess-dress/Blogilates The official blog of Cassey Ho https://i0.wp.com/www.blogilates.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fav-1.png?fit=32%2C32&ssl=1

Wait… Is This Really Happening?!

Wait… Is This Really Happening?! You’ve been asking to see my clothes in Target for like… ever. For years I was like yeah me too except ummm that’s really hard to do. But guess what? IT’S HAPPENING. On December 28th, Blogilates is going to be in the front of all Target stores. All because of you!!   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) Storytime. Four years ago, almost to the day, I wrote a blog post just like this one. My heart was bursting with excitement (mixed with anxiety), just like it is right now. In December of 2020 I was announcing the first launch of Blogilates at Target! It was a test program, and I was sooo nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. And then, you left the shelves empty.  You guys sold everything out before the test period was even over because of your enthusiasm, love, and care (thank you for cleaning the shelves with me, btw). Target decided to keep Blogilates in store and we’re still there today, 4 years later!  Fast forward to last year around this time.  The apparel team at Target reached out and asked to visit me and the design team to see what we were up to. They had seen the growth of POPFLEX and wanted to know more. Ummm what?! So I spent last Christmas making the most intense deck of my life while also living the most intense time of my life. Literally. We were in the middle of moving into a new office in LA, while also setting up a new design studio in Atlanta, while Sam and I were moving houses. All while doing fittings, photoshoots, and launches. It was insanity.  But we did it! The Target execs flew out to come see baby lil us at our Atlanta design office and yes…we were all FREAKING out but knew this was our only chance to prove that we could really be a brand at Target. We decided to pitch an affordable activewear line – something you guys have been asking for since forever!  So we got to work and prepped a 108-slide deck to show every reason why an apparel partnership at Target would make sense, leading first with YOU guys. Thanks for leaving comments all over my pages for the past few years because these comments are the exact ones I led the presentation with! I’ll never forget the energy of our team the evening before our presentation. It was like a group of college students cramming together for a final project, except the energy was unlike anything I’d experienced before in school.  Everyone wanted it BAD. The entire team gave it their all, not a single slacker in sight. Even my nails cooperated as I applied them in the car.  On the big day, we presented and luckily we were not met with crickets. PHEW. There were questions and there seemed to be genuine enthusiasm! After the 5-hour meeting, we were SO happy but also kinda delusional. TBH I thought we aced it! But then afterwards we didn’t hear from them for weeks and we were scared we did not, in fact, ace it. I told myself if it was meant to be, then it would be and tried to stay positive. And then, I GOT THE CALL. Target wanted Blogilates front and center at the gateway space right when you walk in. At all 1800 stores. A FULL ON COLLECTION. They wanted to bring my vision for affordable activewear to life. I died. And got to work immediately. Then, for the next several months I died almost every week trying to figure how HOW do we actually pull off designing for 2 brands at the same time. First off, this was a much faster development timeline than POPFLEX. We usually give 1-2 years for one style and this time we had to get it all done in a matter of months, which was really scary.  Keep in mind that the entire product development team that worked on this collection was literally 7 people. SEVEN. We’re not big at all. We’re very much a small business now working with one of the biggest companies in the entire world.  Were we intimidated? Yes. Extremely. But it was clear early on that we had to face this head on and transform from small biz to acting like a big biz overnight if we wanted to make this happen. There was no rest and no training period. We just had to GO and learn and make mistakes as we went. There were a lot of fires along the way and problems piled on week after week.  I’m so exhausted. The team truly gave everything to this collection. And now we’re two days away from launching my second clothing brand, Blogilates exclusively at Target.  I can’t believe I’m saying that. I can’t believe that boom, just like that, Target is going all in and putting my designs at the front of the store. And craziest of all, in all 1800 stores. ALL 1800!! I feel so grateful, so exhausted, and like I won the retail Superbowl.  Well, actually let’s see if you guys like it, and then I’ll feel like I truly won.  December 28th is the day! It’s going to be a 6 week test, which means if you guys show that you like it (by buying it), then Target may want to bring the brand back in store. If not, it’s over. That’s it.    PREVIEW BLOGILATES FOR TARGET My intention for this collection was not only to bring you affordability, but also a romantic take on activewear that is of course functional. I can’t wait for you to see everything in real life! And to try things on before you buy!! In the meantime, you can go to Target.com to preview all the styles and heart your faves before it goes live. Oh and please go in-store to

Choosing My Eras Tour Outfit!!

Choosing My Eras Tour Outfit!! Hey guys! Thought my try-on for deciding what I should wear to Eras should live permanently on the blog. The options were just TOO GOOD. When I posted this asking for your help, Jackelyn was on her way so we could head to Eras and celebrate the beginning of her bday extravaganza! Eras outfit options   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates)   For those of you who have followed my journey for a long time…you probably know that I’ve been a T Swift fan for a while. It all started with Teardrops on my Guitar when I was in college…Speak Now was my soundtrack through the icy winters of Boston as I cried my way to work every morning…Red got me through heartbreak and healed me over the course of several months…1989 was when I got to meet Taylor in person at a Secret Session…Reputation came at a time when some of the closest people in my life turned against me. This whole time I’ve been watching Taylor Swift evolve as an artist, a businesswoman, and a brand – her force is magnetic, POWERFUL, and empowering. No matter what people say, she keeps doing her thing HER WAY. Sure, attracting haters, but also creating many more lovers along the way and most importantly, always staying true to her changing self. “Inspirational” doesn’t quite encompass how I feel about her. It’s something deeper and I don’t have the word for it. The poll results Here are the outfits you voted for on my IG! Which one do you think I went with?! Try-on details Some of these are sold out, but here are the details on a few things! I bought the silver boots in 2022 before there were a bunch of copies on Amazon. Mine weren’t cheap but the quality is good! They run true to size. The rainbow tassle dress is from ASOS but sold out . The black tassle romper is from Amazon and I love it! The lavender rhinestone crop top and mini skirt have NO STRETCH but I still love them. The halter dress was from ASOS and had a terrible fit. 0/10 recommend. Anyway, let me know your fave outfit! And check out this post to see which outfit I chose . This post may contain referral links for products, and all opinions are my own. This design isn’t for everyone…

This design isn’t for everyone… Hey guys! This really isn’t for everyone. But I’m not trying to design one thing for everyone. I’m trying to design different options for different bodies and different preferences. Leggings with a skirt To be completely honest, I had a really challenging time with the design. But I know how important it is to have modest activewear options for you! The challenge was worth it. It actually took 11 months and 19 days from the time I sketched this to be able to arrive at today’s release. Look, EVEN I thought all I had to do was plop my twirl skort pattern on top of my legging pattern and be done. But no. When I did that, it was looking dowdy and just so UN-POPFLEX. It took time to adjust the skirt ever so slightly to make it still twirl but not overwhelm. Shortening the waistband height, removing some extra fabric, and adding a higher curve to the sides is what helped create the right effect in the final product!   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Cassey Ho (@blogilates) Crisscross Hourglass® Sklegging I’m learning as I go about modest fashion design Thank you for challenging me to push past my boundaries as a designer. As someone who personally does not dress modestly, I actually liked being pushed to create something that could not rely too heavily on showing skin to be cute. It challenged me creatively, and that, I’m always up for because it forces me to expand my mind. I’m wearing the POPFLEX Sklegging in size small. This is a 27” inseam and I’m 5’5”. Since it’s an experimental design, I didn’t create different inseams just yet. I need to assess what you guys think about leggings with a skirt before I head in any deeper. Anyway, I hope you love! And if you don’t, that’s fine too bc the original skort with shorts under still exists! You can shop the Crisscross Hourglass Twirl Skort here! Hey guys! This really isn’t for everyone.
